Have you adjusted your transmission quality on the R/C? The higher bit rate setting (or better quality live feed) the shorter the distance. This depends on which model you have (pro/adv). Along with that being said, you can change channels, too. Fly on a channel that isn't busy with other signals will help you fly further as well.

Here's a helpful page: [DJI GO Tutorial] Video Downlink Settings

Thanks I have the advanced, I have not adjusted anything on the R/C or changed channels I will have a look at that tutorial
being a bit new to all of this I have not had the confidence yet to adjust these !

thanks for the replys appreciated :)

Leave the channel settings to auto, forget the 32 channel hack. Get a pair of windsurfers and it will help. My spot is on a hill without any interruptions as well, i took my windsurfers out to 60,000 feet and back. This is the set: https://www.amazon.com/SKYREAT-Parabolic-Advanced-Controller-Transmitter/dp/B017IP2P98 :)

I made a set out of 3" drain pipe cut in half then hot glued drilled baseplates. For the reflector I used sheetmetal foil tape. Went out i mile with no signs of signal loss. My cost was under $10

When you get more into it

What is a set up like that cost and at what range you getting? Looks good :)

Due to winter weather, I've only tested it out to 2 miles, moderate line of sight. It had full signal bars.

I am expecting range capable Clear line of sight could be 10-20 miles (probly more). In no way am I looking for distances that great, I want the signal to be solid and want to have penetrating ability. It's also how I cook my eggs and ham.

I was thinking of a pair of phased 2.4g 14 element yagis - the forward gain would be impressive.
VERY!... and VERY directional.

I bought a windsurfer not to increase range per se, but to maintain connectivity, and it certainly does that. With a windsurfer, over water you should easily get 2 miles, but I wouldn't push it any further than that. Just me though....
