Ultrasonic Sensor Failure... Repeatedly.

I often wondered whether the P3 would recognize that you took off from say 800m that it would reflect though GPS etc.
The Phantom 1, 2 & 3 use a barometer for altitude - not GPS (which is very inaccurate for altitude).
The Phantom has no idea of height above sea level and only understands that home is zero and calculates everything relative to that.

I found it very difficult to fly from above the bird as I had no idea how high it was off the ground... No depth perception with irregular terrain.

Suprized it does not use GPS, with GPS using 18 satellites it should be pretty accurate. I know it uses the barometer, just thought it would be facilitated with GPS...
 
Following my repeated Ultrasonic System error I started experiencing vertical drifting, shaking/instability. This is with VPS on or off and several IMU calibrations. Hopefully turning VPS off will do the trick. Don't be surprised if other symptoms kick in
