Hımmm thanks so much. Did you test distance with stock RX unit P2 ?
Haven't done long BVR flights in a while, but several months ago went 3.9km with 14SG and stock P2 receiver. Dozens of times over 2km,
prior to FAA edict. Then switched P2 to Futaba R7008SB receiver that comes with 14SG. Similar range. On any given day, 6's whether FPV starts to get snowy or Rx flirts RTH on you. Typically I would climb straight up to 100m, then gradually climb another 100m over first 500m horizontal, then hold 200m AGL until turnaround point. Fun stuff. Of course, with my 20/10 vision, I had eyeballs on the bird all the way out and back. Or so my attorney assures me.

What Edict? The FAA doesn't make Edicts-that's Congress' job
I typically don't go above 100M ever....but I can see why you could get the range your getting.
I always fly BVR...take-off climb and go forward in GPS mode, put Goggles on, and fly. I know the area I fly around intimately. I always take a zig-zag course out and back, so my take-off position is unknown to those that see the aircraft. I also don't fly over people.
I regularly stop at 2km....that's far enough for me, and really, I start running out of land and end up over our Lake if I go much further-or, I end up over "civilization"...another "no-go" for me.
So, to summarize; I don't believe the Futaba with or w/o receiver in the aircraft will increase your range. Nor do I think using the stock remote over the futaba will increase anything.
I would advise those doing long distance flights to start off with small distance of 500M first. Get used to the area you fly in, so you can look on your screen/goggles, and be able to instantly point your finger to exactly where the aircraft is, at all times.
Then go out to 1KM..then a bit further.
There's nothing like that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you see "F/S Home" on the bottom left of your screen, and you move the remote, and nothing responds. You are at that point, completely out of control of the aircraft-not a good feeling. Keep toggling between GPS and Atti til you get RC signal back.
FS will disappear from the screen, once you have remote control back..but, "home" will still be displayed until you take the aircraft out of fail safe by switching from GPS to Atti..you can then switch back to GPS if you like and fly back.
