The obstacle avoidance only works when the Phantom is moving forward, backward, or to either side (4 directions total). It does not avoid obstacles when descending.

I have all sensors activated but going side to side seems to not engage for some reason.

The side sensors will only be used when flying in Beginner Mode or Tripod Mode.
