Phantom 3 Professional Firmware v1.5.0030

Lots of confusion going on here. I'll try to clear up a few things
I am also wondering about this as the app says camera needs update ... dji said it was to make the cameras focus change but i feel that is incorrect and not possible but what the app told me and I tryed and did NOT work is that you can hold the C1 bottom with rolling the gimbal control and rather then the camera tilting it would adjust the focus?!?!?1 IT DOES NOT!
The camera update is for the Pro only, to give it 2.7K video.
DJI never said anything about making the cameras focus change - because the Phantom 3 has a fixed focus camera. You can't change the focus.
I used to only calibrate after an update with my P2 but DJI had said to recalibrate before each flight so thats what i've been doing.
DJI haven't said to recalibrate before every flight.

You can update the radio controller from the new app, just download it first. ;-)
Did you mean 'update drone or radio controller first'!
I always do the drone's firmware first, anything else is always secondary.
You don't update the app, other than download the latest-greatest version.

No I know to update the drone first but ive seen it says RC need update App. needs update camera needs update and the craft but I had seen people talking about updating the app. first vs. update the RC first, so do I not need to update the app.? just update craft then RC and all is good? I just updated the ipad now

On the GO APP. when the RC update came out before this new update it said features are holding C1 and moving the gimbal tilt would focus the camera which made no sense to me and that update seemed to do nothing

Since the P3 camera has no focus, DJI wouldn't have said that at all.

Yes I have no idea why the pop up in the go app said that I figured it would be for the inspire but it still told me to update so i did and tried it and it didnt work as i thought, also about the p3p doing 2.7k I thought it already had the option or was it only 2k? i usually always shot 4k anyhow

I did SW and FW upgrades. All went very smoothly.

I also noticed others have problems upgrading their devices and app. Reason is very clear. If you know how to do it, it's very easy, if you don't then you get nervous to see things not working as expected and scared to lose your investment.

The only way to make all learn is through clear documentation and announcements/ releases. DJI lacks these aspects which is a very usual case if techies are handling such things. For them it's just a cake walk. I believe DJI needs to improve documentation and communication to earn good name. Just making a good product will not help as others will keep crying. I have been in the industry for 40 plus years and know exactly how to do it. When I installed new FW on my aircraft, I published steps to do. Read them, you will find them so easy to follow and are based on what users will see and listen.

Meta4 is correct in his way and Poundofnuts too correct in his perspective. We need to see how to meet both the ends amicably.

See how steps should be written in layman's language:

My FW installation procedure:
1. Get a clean SD Card and copy bin file for the FW update
2. Plug it into Gimbal slot and start P3
3. Gimbal starts making noise, small LED on Gimbal blinks green red
4. Lights will keep changing pattern
5. At one time, all lights will be off for about 5 minutes, Gimbal continues making noise
6. Lights come back, Gimbal continues making noise
7. At about end of 10 minutes, Gimbal small LED Turns solid Green, Gimbal continues making noise
8. Stop P3
9. Turn on P3 Again
10. Start RC and App and check the Aircraft Status: It shows 1.5.30
after update complete and power off should the sd card be taken out so the p3 dosent try and update again or will it just say its up to date and not matter?

'Finally tracked this down ...
GO App 2.4.0 has a new way to adjust the gimbal roll. This is done by holding down the C2 button on the bottom of the RC ( you see a cross hair appear on the screen ) then using the camera settings wheel to adjust it.
There's nothing there about focus

Take a look back where u found that, that was part 2 of the announcement part 1 talked about holding C1 and using the gimbal wheel would make the camera change focus, believe me it was there but no idea how that could even be possible

I can't find that .. because the P3 lens doesn't focus.
Unless you can show me otherwise - I don't believe it was ever said.

You can't update the app personally, only download the newest one.
If the RC needs updating, then you would first download the newest app and go from there, because the new RC firmware is in the Go app. The camera updated when you updated the drone firmware.
The order I use is Go app if applicable, drone, batteries and radio.
Sometimes the app is updated solely, other times perhaps there are firmware improvements, but no app upgrade. But more often usually, they will coincide.

Trust me, it's in the 2.4 announcements that you acknowledge, but since the DJI GO app has no knowledge of which device you intend to use it with, until you select your device, it includes announcements for all P3's, both Inspires, and the Osmo, too. The irrelevant announcements can be both annoying and confusing. The focus announcement only pertains to new the Inspire Pro which has a focusable camera, but that limitation may not have been stated.

After the drone update is successful you can put the micro sd card back in the computer to delete the Sucess file that was generated.
You don't have to leave the bin file on, as there is nothing for batteries or future use of it. So just reformat the sd card in the drone, when you finish and then you can begin to have fun. ;-)
There will be new firmware coming pretty soon, as the Phantom 3 Pro camera in iOS will get 2.7 K video added to it's 4.K and 1080p.
I understand there is to be a slight upgrade to our still pic camera use as well. Apparently, it will be a higher resolution, going from the present 12mp ~ 16mp. Still les than half of my Nikon D800 @36mp.

With your large myth and misconception manifest, you shall gain a better insight of the beast, if you read those manuals again. We Stress this often. Please do it.
I suggest going all over, around and inside out the Go App as well, and really get to know the parameters and why they are important to understand fully. It's an easy bird to fly, nearly anyone can hover it.
But to fly it confidently, and without worry of damage, loss or injury to it, yourself or others who may be near you when ever you fly it. That needs practice, and time at the computer, RTFM. ;-)

You have much to look forward to, these modern flying machines are a dream come true.

It seems to me that the "change focus" in this context actually means "change what the camera is pointing at", as in the various focus options in Autopilot for example.

It's like poker. You can learn the rules in 5 minutes but mastering the game takes a lifetime! You can relate, eh? :D

No, this was specific to the new Inspire Pro with a focusable zoom lens, as I recall. Once you acknowledge the announcement, you can't retrieve it again, or we could settle this once and for all.

Yeah, but please don't practice your smooth new moves at the local casino. ;-)
They will help you learn poker and blackjack too, with an easy instalment plan of payments. Hehe

Indeed! Same as assuming you are ready to fly, just because the box says it is ready to fly! :D
DJI will sell you as many P3's as you need, until you get it right, or you can learn those skills on an indestructible Syma X5C for $55 first. Your choice!

It's all there in black and white. ;-)
Yeah, right down there, in the grey area. Hahaha

Guys, fast question:

Mine P3A arrived today from Germany, and it says that the P3 has updated to 1.5. I presume that also RC was also...

Question:

I have 2 batteries, one new without use but recent, the original with 1.3fw...
How can i update both batteries, put the bin to SD Pen and do the thing has a normal update to P3?

Or can ignore and just enjoy?

Also forget to mention my App on phone is 2.1.0, and i would prefer NOT update it, yet...

Thank you!!!

So if no upgrade for app is it best I uninstall it and then download it again? is that the only way of doing it and should I do that then update RC? also I looked on the DJI fourm and the guy says you can download the FW and upgrade it through the app!?!? is that another way of doing it rather then the old fashion way of downloading it on a PC and putting it on the sd card? can I just do it all via the app?
