Malware for drones

Parrot drone was hacked last year. Visions can be detected and subject to a Wi-Fi based DOS attack. But as no one has hacked the Naza bootloader yet, we're fairly safe for the moment.
 
If you have physical access to any device, there are ways to add back doors.
That article has no meaning. If someone could take over control or remotely flash the FW, that would be worse. Its good that DJI didn't try to make the software update wireless.

Much more of a concern is the remote control of modern car canbus networks.
You'd be amazed at what can be done to a computer on wheels with virtually 0 security.
