I read 300 meters but I have flown mine almost out to the quarter mile buoy where I swim.

The max usable range seems to be about 1000m, just where DJI puts it. Some people get less in some circumstances, a few people have gotten way farther than that without modding the antennas or tx. I know I'm pretty safe out to 600-800m in clear skies, past that some of the control gets intermittent. My vtx and tx will both lose signal around 1200m.

people have reported being able to fly over a mile away with the stock transmitter.
however, this was with the early versions of the phantom.

would never recommend you try it though =)
i never fly mine out of sight.....
