Sorry - but you're not describing course lock adequately. Your description is only valid on the initial movement. Course lock works relative to the direction that the AC is facing when engaging course lock. For example, if the AC is facing north and you engage course lock, moving the right stick up will always send the AC north, NOT necessarily forward. If north happens to be forward, you'd be right, but only by coincidence. Another example with the same lock, if you initially send the AC west for one mile by moving the right stick to the left, and then move the right stick forward, the AC will go North. In this lock, right stick up is always north. Right stick left is always west. Etc.

I believe headless mode works exactly like home lock, the only difference being the controller being the center of the "wheel", rather than the home point being the center of the "wheel." Nothing else makes sense - as already described in post #25.
