    Altamonte Springs is about 40 miles northwest of Cape Canaveral. It was a nice clear day as you can see. The Atlas V carried a GPS satellite into orbit. It was the smallest configuration of the Atlas V with just the core liquid propellant engine as the first stage. Larger configurations of the Atlas would have been easier to spot because the added solid propellant motors produce more flame and smoke.

    I believe it's more like 50 miles, but who's counting :? Where are you flying in Oviedo?
