Firmware v 1.8.80 released (with notes)

It's not a new DJI GO update, it is a Radio Control Update, After doing the aircraft, turn all off and back on again, then you should be alerted to a firmware update, just click on it and it will update, I actually had to do it twice before it work do it.
Please read ALL the comments before posting cause you are missing an important bit. When I posted my comment DJI had already released the AC Firmware but they didn't release the RC update through iOS(app 2.7.1). It was confirmed by a DJI live chat rep, I tried a bit later and everything worked. So I initially updated th AC succesfully but the DJI go ios app couldn't find any RC firmware updates(cause it wasn't yet made available by DJI) so AC and RC couldn't connect succesfully

Sorry... I guess I misread your post

Matti,

On my P3Pro's I locked in on 1.4.3 so I could get the advanced flight modes but I also locked in the Litchi and DJI Go apps. This is another reason I fly Android. If I need to downgrade an app it's much easier than iOS. On my P2V+v3, I did the same thing. I locked down the firmware and the DJI, Litchi and UF apps. I was using a Tab 4 for the P2 so I just locked it down and retired it for use with just the P2. I use an Nvidia Shield and a Tab S2 for my P3's and 3dr Solo. All of my birds are solid and I still fly pretty much exclusively with Litchi. I keep the DJI stuff for settings and troubleshooting only. My P2 still flies great, as a matter of fact, I'm upgrading the camera lens right now to get rid of the fisheye. Just thought I'd share what has worked well for me, I'm not saying it's right or wrong. YMMV, good luck!

Jerry
Which litchi version do you use jerry?

Hi,
Did you have any issues. I have updated mine and got the "Signal Lost" message. Multi rc reconnections attempted as well as delete and reinstall of the app, without success?

Hi, I just upgraded from 1.07.6 to 1.080088.
All was done in 6 minutes, ended with success.

But when launching RC and DJI Go I got the fast flashing yellow lights and the red "Signal Lost" message.
I have the camera view, the gimbal moves OK and the camera settings available, but the motors won't start.

I read in the release note that both AC and RC must be updated or they'll not link, fine. But how to update the RC?
DJi Go says "latest firmware" with RC at 1.57 and AC at 1.0760+ (??? why not 1.08?) and ask for nothing and doesn't download any RC firmware either.

I tried pairing the RC and the drone, push the small switch, DJI Go says process ending as usual BUT the small link-led keeps flashing red-light. No joy.

I've done all this above using DJI Go 2.6.1.
So I tried again, installing DJI Go v2.7.2 issued today : all the same symptoms. Signal Lost, motors don't start, unable to pair AC and RC.

I try to downgrade back to FW 1.076 in copying it on a blank formated SD card and firing the drone up: no joy, does nothing, says FW is same or older.

So what can I do to get it working? I'm despaired...
I'm essentially in the same sinking boat my friend, guess I will call the Clowns at DJI today!
You know.....when it comes to the DJI FW updates I seem to spend more time fixing than flying, just sayin!:(

Couldn't find any thread for this new firmware release.

Overview:
1. All-in-One firmware version updated to:v1.8.80
2. DJI GO app Android version updated to: v2.7.2

What's new:
1. Improved aircraft stability through optimized flight controller logic.
2. Optimized gimbal parameters
3. Fixed clip preview error in 2.7K resolution mode
4. Improved encryption to enhance security during transmission

Notes:
- The firmware can be downgraded to v1.7.0060.
- Both the aircraft and the remote controller must be upgraded or else they will not link

Anyone had the chance to check it out yet? :)
Just received the notice for firmware update on my P3A Go App. Did the update but it put v. 1.6 on my RC. I then downloaded the latest firmware for the quad 1.8.80 which updated just fine. I updated the Go App figuring it would then update the RC firmware to match firmware on the quad but NOOOO! I can not get the RC to update to 1.8.80 even using the method I always have ( unzip dji .bin file, copy to thumb drive, power off RC, insert thumb drive, power on RC) All I get is a red light on the far left and a constant beep after a few minutes. I re downloaded the 1.8.80 bin file but still no luck. Don't want to fly with firmware not matching. DJI is trying to drive me crazy :-(

Steven,

I think it's 2.7.1 but I not certain, that's off of the top of my head. All of my birds and tablets are packed up from a recent trip. I'll be unpacking sometime today. I'll verify when I get unpacked. It was the last version before they switched over to SDK 3.

The release notes say update to signal security. Security changes can have impacts to signal strength. Can someone test two things:
1) max distance vs older FW
2) 32 channel hack

The RC has a different FW number than the AC, so if you're on 1.6 for your remote, it's up to date.

I was thinking the same thing. This can definitely decrease range. Waiting for some tests to come in.

I suppose that suggests that 1.5 aircraft firmware is needed so you can update batteries, and from there go to 1.8 firmware. I think it's important to not miss that battery update.

The RC/AC fw change crypto algorithm (!?) but this doesn't impact trasmission

Yes right! Last battery update is embedded in fw 1.6.40 (batt fw: 1.7.15.1).
Anyway fw update procedure test all the sections in the AC, so if it found older fw on battery it will update to 1.7.15.1.

Actually, that has me confused, lol. Are you saying this new aircraft firmware 8.1 will include the latest battery firmware and detect if a battery within the aircraft at the time of firmware update needs it and therefore apply it? If so, all batteries you own will need to be put in the aircraft before removing the SD card with the update on it, so each battery can get updated.
