. In this path, I have identified 3 main directions ... trying to recap here below:
1)
Zeiss VR ONE (or similar) + smartphone + specific flying app:
PROs:
real HD display, big
immersive experience, extreme
picture quality,
cheap (no HDMI daughterboard required),
FULL telemetry,
neat (not many cables to mess around and no new batteries to depend on),
external view (through phone's camera),
re-usable (you can use your goggles for other purposes ... as in "
pornizer 3D"
),
autonomy (you depend on your smartphone's battery),
prescription glasses usable, and last but not least... you can touchlessly
INTERACT with your app (trough customizable buttons)
CONs: you currently cannot use DJI Pilot app and you're constrained to specific apps designed for these goggles, you don't have a "real" tablet to interact with once you remove your goggles
2) Small-factor goggles (as in Accupix Mybud, Fatsharks, FlySight, etc.):
PROs:
size, you
can use most apps as DJI Pilot,
tablet hooked to RC for full degree of controls
CONs: less immersive experience, you are limited to the scarce DJI telemetry via HDMI, FOV limited, more cables+batteries, no prescription glasses, HDMI daughterboard required
3) Big Players (as in Sony HMZ-T3, HeadPlay):
PROs:
HD display (720p), extreme
picture quality,
FOV, big
immersive experience, you
can use most apps as DJI Pilot,
tablet hooked to RC, reusable (for TV/PC/Consoles, [price (for HeadPlay)]
CONs: size, more cables + batteries, you are limited to the scarce DJI telemetry via HDMI, HDMI daughterboard required, [price (for Sony)]
Please feel free to modify it ...
