Why so many range discrepancies?

Get the FVPLR kit & get the booster. You will be able to fly roughly every 5000 feet & add 250 feet altitude. I can go out to 24000 feet with my stock P-4 with the antenna / booster kit. ( 17500 without it STOCK ) The Drone battery power is the limiting factor. With my P-4 FVP CUSTOM Drone battery mod I can get 33,000 feet. That's the very limit & scary but I did both above. The mods let me fly lower for the first 10,000 feet. Then I have to climb hard to keep the signal . All in all your looking at $250 for the Drone mod + batteries ( I'm working on the best battery combo ) Figure $120 for the batteries & the controller antenna & booster mod $390 But when done it's worth it. WOW 30,330 feet so far !!!!!!!!

Well I have more data. My stock P4P drone with my FPVLR "Tony's "antennas + booster I made it to 22285 feet & back with 8% battery remaining. THAT's IT !!
With my P4 & the FPV Custom Drone Battery mod & 5500 ma split battery 30,600 feet. 17% remaining. With a pair of 1000 ma I went to 22,285 with 32% remaining. HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS !!!!!
I found a scale. the stock setup is .0039 the 1000 ma batteries is .0030 & the 5500 ma is .0027. Here is how it works .= Take % of power used ( say 95 % used ) & divide it by the chart. Say 95% used dived by .0027 = 35,185 feet ( one way ) Say the 1000 ma batteries used 95 % & divided by .0030 = 31,666
The stock setup on the P4 is .0039 use 95% of the power & divide it by .0039=
22358 Trust me this is very close to what you can expect . YOU MUST BE CAREFUL IN WIND !!!!!!!!

U should be able to do better rotax! There is a few guys that got 50,000 all stock. You are not doing it in sport mode at all correct? Oa off in p mode should get u around 30 to 31mph that is the sweet spot for distance runs. The motor rpms arent too high and its easier on battery.

Haven't messed with any max range test with the p4p until today. My setup was stock p4p with old p4 battery. Remote set to channel 21 in 2.4 in the app . Of course I used the magnetic 9dbi l-coms it's freaking cold and windy today! Managed a little over 25,000ft darn near a 10 mile round trip. I may retry here soon with the correct battery.

So wow, the p4p range is way better then the mavic now that it has been out longer and has had time to be fixed.

This was **** near suicide. 30,000ft at 300ft. Had a pretty good cross wind and there is room to go a little further but its just so stressful!

Yes 2.4 with Omni directional antennas. I can't use 5.8
