The camera is out of the way. What's more, it doesn't need those nuisance plastic pins to keep it from falling from the sky if the rubbers fail because the base plate can't fall through the hole in the case.
The design is what DJI should have produced once they realised that their original body design was flawed. The stress cracks that form, around the engine mounts on the original Phantom 3 kit are more worthy of a recall in any other industry, rather than an extortionate charge for a new body. DJI opened the door to this modification and I think it's brilliant.
