Rotorpixel gimbal for Phantom Vision

Doesn't look like a load of room for the flytrex board Simon !

Looks a quality piece of kit though. Pity cant see the youtube footage !!

Having been sat in customs here since Monday morning, my tracking has just changed from "Awaiting Customs Clearance" to "Awaiting Customs Charging". Slightly frustrating it took them 2 working days to work out that I need to pay VAT and duty... <sigh>

Still, for anyone else in the UK I will let you know the duty rate that we will be charged on this as soon as I have seen the breakdown.

Hello Simon
It would be great to know the customs charge, as & when you do !
Are you still thinking Thursday (hopefuly ) can't wait to see it on the kitchen table.
I'm looking forward to "shipping Wednesday" to see if they can make it to 360 you never know your luck !
Cheers Glen.

Looks very nice (quality). Also looks heavy.

That looked excellent, stable and good looking picture!

I too wonder what the all up weight is, probably close to a P2 with Gimbal and GoPro.

Looks like solid build quality and raw footage from the RP gimbal!

As we already knew the FC200 is the weak link on the P2V. Doesn't seem the sensor can keep up with any type of fast movement. Mainly when panning the video quickly (360 rotation 00:58-01:07). Great light, so we can't blame that...

Was this shot in 1080 30p or 60i?

Note the cat at the front door @ 00:11. Simon better give the dog a buttermilk bath for his big day.

EDIT: I just watched again on my iPad3 and iphone5 and can say the video quality looks much better on a retina display compared to my 24 inch 1920 x 1200 samsung LCD monitor.

EDIT 2: Watched it back on my Samsung LED Smart TV from the built in YouTube app and video quality is just as good as on the iDevices. I'm guessing it's just my computer monitor that's lacking because it only refreshes at 60Hz.

Thanks for the photos Kerranga!

Can you let me know roughly how much clearance there is between the top of the Gimbal controller board and the underside of the Vision? Just wondering if I'll need to relocate my Flytrex which is currently sitting just inboard of where the flight battery sits...

Does this help?

What's the black thing sticking out of the port where the white camera cable and compass wires exit the body of the Phantom?

Here you go!

Great stuff, thank you.

90 degree down - check.
No props in shot at all - check.
Raw footage, out of the box, no tweaking at all? - Awesome!

This bodes very, very well as a plug-and-play, transferable and upgradeable gimbal!

When's Keri going to open the pre- pre-order list list for the third axis upgrade?!

That is a Futaba connector that I had connected to a different gimbal. It will soon be removed.

Thank you! Looks tight, but if it's not doable there then I'll just mount it to the outside face of the battery compartment rather than the underside.

And thanks for putting the youtube footage up, too. :)

You are welcome! 3M removable velcro tape for the win.

Yep I use the same stuff - Command picture hanging strips. I'd prefer not to keep taking it off every battery swap, though, so I'll do a hull mount somewhere.

I am designing a mount for it using my 3D printer. I will keep you posted.

Pull-Up, it doesn't look like the Flytrex will fit where you and I attached it as per the instructions and your video....time for some thinking and innovation.

I was going to go for a side-mount, but if there's a snazzy and cool 3d printed doodad then how could I resist?!

And me please mr kerranga !!! :D

Video that shows my novice piloting skills :). It is at least first flight RotorPixel footage.

Looks pretty smooth. NICE!!! How hard was the install? How's the build quality? Nice to see this thing finally released to the wild...
