Rotorpixel gimbal for Phantom Vision

I believe that another 30 went out today. And, we're hoping to have at least another 50-80 go out by Friday as well. Shipping is finally picking up!

Keri

When will you email the new power output and PID's settings?

I hope they'll make this an upgrade for current Vision owners ...purchase a new camera with gimbal, with a trade in on the old camera. Assuming the 2.4 ghz antenna is still on the camera in the plus. Ive got a RP coming, my Vision is a month old yesterday. I'm still happy with what I've got, especially if Keri comes thru on the third axis upgrade.

I think they've moved the antennas out of the camera and the WiFi too. I got on the FCC web site and downloaded the test results for the p2v plus. The FCC id is now displayed on the aircraft rather than the camera. Perhaps the wifi radio is now in the same place as the gimbal controller. Antennas are now 2dbi as apposed to 1 dbi. I wonder if they're still circular polarized. They could increase the dbi easier with linear patch antennas.

In one of the closeup pics of the P2V+, you can see a good deal of ribbon cable that appears to be going up into the P2V+ body. It looks like some of the camera electronics have been moved internal to the P2V+. Certainly it looks like little chance of migrating that gimbal to a different craft, or putting a different camera on the gimbal on the P2V+.

I am just hoping I will get it before may.
#1 for my birth day
#2 I have a trip to Bethlehem PA to do a job there and see a good friend and show off my P2V (hopefully) with the Roto-pixel gimbal.

I really want to get some good shots of the Sands casino and the stacks.
but it is kinda doubtful my order number is 983 :-(
at least I hope I will have the latest in advancements.

I'm very close to there outside Reading, Pa! I go to the Sands Casino often. You have a job working for the Casino?

Im on the waiting list can i cancel my order, sell my p2v on craigslist and get the plus? It has double wifi range, more speed, and a legit lightweight gimbal for added flighttime

I'm not so sure about added speed on the new vison plus I've taken my phantom 2 vision to 50mph already.

Brilliant! I'am #637 sitting patiently, I can't understand why babies were throwing toys out the pram..the website made it clear that there would be a delay in getting the orders out...good things come to those who wait!

Excellent... Only days to go now.. Woohoo!

I canceled my order (#416) yesterday and had my refund back in a matter of hours (nice). I'm going with the Vision + and with the extra $409 it's going to be a free upgrade once everything is sold. :)

The way i see it.... You gain a yaw axis and 4 minutes of flight (maybe) with the plus.. Not much else really.

Thats not worth the hassle of the return process from my standpoint.
However.. I do hope Keri can get us the 3rd axis upgrade once the dust settles after orders are all filled.

It is too late for me to return mine. :(
I don't want to start "when will the 3rd axis upgrade be ready" posts but when will it be ready? :)

I have not ordered the RP 2 axis gimbal yet, mostly because I'm out a town a lot and don't know when it will be shipped. I don't want it sitting at my front door when I'm not home. It seems like the delivery is speeding up so they may get more time to work on the 3 axis version.

People need to remember unless you are made of money you need to factor in resale price of your P2V then the purchase price of a P2V+. Assuming a generous 0.66 of new price for your mint P2V you'll have $800 towards your $1350 shipped P2V+, meaning it will cost you $550 to "upgrade". This gives you a 3 axis gimbal-cum-camera unit that looks at the moment tied into the P2V+ airframe. If you are happy to tie into that airframe and hit a camera upgrade dead-end then that's a good move for you.

If you feel you may want to upgrade aircraft and camera at some point in the future then an airframe-agnostic gimbal (with 3rd axis option) with various camera mounts will cost less now, and much less in the future. Something for everyone - hence why DJI are still making and selling the Vision. Whatever you choose, enjoy it. Aaaand back to discussion about the Rotorpixel... (or for some of you, constantly telling us how glad you are you didn't buy the Rotorpixel or cancelled ages ago. :) )

Pull_Up... You have been my Yoda when it comes to my Phantom, but I hate to say this bud... I'm going over to the dark side on this one... The Vision + IS A BETTER UAS, PERIOD! You have a RotorPixel Gimbal, so you know about the 16 min flight times... Sure its for the Vision only, but that's the whole point of RTF... The DIY kits or addons that can be jury-riged to work on something else is not the direction DJI wanted to go (my opinion) with the "Vision Series"... We all agree the the Phantom 2 Series is a great, easy to use means of performing aerial photography along with flat out fun by just flying around... For those with or without a GoPro, the Vision + solves many distance issues some had along with providing smooth 1080P video... The best comparison will be a stock P2V vs a stock P2V+... there's a $100 price difference... For those of us who spent $1200 + on these, plus batteries, plus case, etc... What's a $100 if I will get great smooth video and FPV at 2000 ft AND a 25 minute flight time to boot...

And as I said if you've got the cash to splash that's cool. If not then there are other options, including better video if you already have GoPro. I think not putting a much better camera on this unit was a missed opportunity, as was not making it a multi-use gimbal. But hey, there's something for everyone as I said (and I get 17 mins on my Rotorpixel down to 20%).

If RTF is where you intend to stay then just keep buying the latest greatest Vision version, it's still an awesome package and way in to this as a new hobby. For those of us without bottomless pockets then there's more to weigh up than just going for the newest thing every 6 months. :)

In reference to the Rotorpixel used on the Vision, if I decide to replace my Vision camera with a Gopro, will I loose the ability to use Vision app? If so would I then have to buy a separate monitor and video down-link?

Yes because the wifi is in the P2V camera.

What email are you guys contacting Keri with cause I have tried three different times now starting February 7 and no response at all
So what email should I use ?

Yes because the wifi is in the P2V camera.

You'll also need to consider a video downlink that won't interfere with 5.8 ghz control frequency. So it presents other problems.
Ideally, an upgraded camera for the Vision is a possible way forward to keep the Vision as a entry level and beyond competitor in Aerial photo/video.

Yes you will loose the DJI app and the telemetry, but since the GoPros have WiFi themselves you still have the potential to use the GoPro app when using the GoPro cam on the P2V. In theory you might be able to utilize the DJI WiFi range extender as well if you can bond it with the GoPro WiFi.
