Removing Lens Cover Schooled

Try to grasp the cover at the outside, where the lens is. This will minimize pressure at the thread.

The problem is _not_ that the lens cap is on tight, it's that the aluminum distorts when pressure is applied. That is what makes it difficult to remove. Applying more pressure just makes is worse.

A _very light_ touch is what is needed. This is why something sticky helps.

So what the OP did was the exact _opposite_ of what should have been done.

Not trying to argue but the real issue is called "galling" and is an issue with threads of similar metals like stainless steel or aluminum.
I do agree that if you deform the metal at all it will gall even more! All you can do to prevent it is add a small amount of aluminum thread or pipe dope.

Works for me :)

I had exactly the same problem. I have 2 P3As, one of which dji replaced after a failure. The first 1, I removed with a rubber band, the second needed the prop tool, but the third would not move, no matter what I tried - until I used a drop of brake fluid - and then I could easily unscrew it with my fingers!
