Phantom 3 Pro Firmware Updates

Just got the Phantom 3 Pro, brand new.

Good lord, if these things just worked like they're suppose to...
Go App says the RC needs an update, click here to download - fails every time.

Direction say you can update the RC the old way by way of USB port. I go to download the firmware from the site and I see the firmware update for the bird, but not for the RC...

Is it one and the same??? Does anyone know?
