Did all work fine software-wise before opening the RC?

Yes but I think something reset when we took it apart in software. And I found a site that said to do a hard reset of the controller. It says to hold c1, c2, right wheel, record. What do you say is the proper way of doing a hard reset?

How or why would it have reset itself, without you doing something to perform that function?
There is no magic button.
