P3 fly without optical flow camera?

Has anyone tried flying the DJI with optical flow camera covered up to allow for payload to be carried? Curious if anyone has had any weirdness or tried this technique out if outdoor flight is all that's required?

One guy lifted a 2 pound bucket with his P3 in a YouTube video. Didn't get very far with it, and it swayed back and forth like a pendulum underneath on an 8 foot rope, yanking the P3 above it back and forth, too! He set it back down, before it got any worse! Not it's intended use!

You don't cover it, you disable it.
