just about to purchase a phantom 2 v2 and wanted to know if any talks are out about a newer model. maybe a phantom 3 coming out sometime soon?

I don't think we're gonna see a new Phantom within a few months. DJI has been very busy with Inspire 1 which is still not stable. Their next step will probably be Ground Station for Inspire 1.

Seems like I read somewhere there was talk of a 3.5 maybe ! Think it was in Phantom pilot pirates !

There have been many rumors. One was the P3 would be introduced in January. Obviously that didn't happen. I think it was a mistake as the hobbico Ora is supposed to be released in late March. The transmitter has a built in FPV screen and the UAV is also equipped with a camera and transmitter. A GoPro can be used.
Even better, a parachute is an extra option. I have two Phantoms, but I will buy this UAV!
