Happy New Year everyone.

I'm visiting Myanmar and Vietnam in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone has experi nice with flying a UAS in those countries.

Also, recently upgraded to a P3 professional and wanted to try out the difference screw on lens filters but for the life of me I can't get the lens cap off. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

I found having the phantom upside-down gave me better access to the lens. Initially i used a rubber band to help grip the lens and used a gentle twist. It seems like the more pressure you use the harder it is to unscrew. Everytime after i dont need the band. Hope that helps.

As for the flying zones hopefully someone else can help out there.

There have been tourists flying phantoms in myanmar even above yangon, i just asked a couple of native friends if there are any regulations and they doubt its been talked about, they also doubt any of its citizens own one, they could be wrong, best just go and do it, wonderful country and people,
I have traveled all of myanmar and have crossed a few land borders north and south from thailand but never with any type of personal aircraft,
What i can tell you is the situation in the north and shan states is unpredictable, some areas would require you to register or even have a plan, at times these same areas would be no go for foriegners full stop,
I have many burmese friends, things were arranged for me, fishing is one past time i enjoy,
Really cant say i found it in anyway relaxing casting a fly along with military standing around complete with guns,
Shame thailand is not on your list, no restrictions till now apart from any royal residence and military bases,
Temples are fair game i am told,
Vietnam and drones, i have no idea.

but for the life of me I can't get the lens cap off. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Scott

I ended up using a pair of rounded channel locks for pipes. Plyers will work just be sure to gently apply just the needed pressure while keeping the jaws tight and over the edge of the rim for full support. Just get it to move and then hand unscrew and hand tighten from now on.

For anyone else that wants to attempt this, you should be aware that the UAV filter is very fragile. Too much pressure will most likely break the glass or bend the flimsy exterior of the filter.

Try putting on latex gloves and unscrew using little pressure. This method worked for me.

First time off, I wrapped a large zip-tie around the lense and twisted it off with no trouble. Since then I also found that a gentle twist with two fingers gets it off easily - twisting hard binds up the threads and it won't budge. BTW, I use the Taco-RC ND filters - outstanding.

There are regulations in Vietnam requiring documentation in advance. The forms one page back and front and very detailed. It also has a timeframe for the approval cycle but I can't remember it off the top of my head. I believe they stated 1-2 weeks. Not sure whether they ever approve any or not.

interesting to know, but not surprising after reading other peoples endeavors to use sailing boats in vietnams waters,
Have your flown your phantom in other asian countries?

I was in Vietnam, but when I was there, the only things flying were bullets.

I had huge problems getting mine off until I tried a small sized cable tie, fit it around the end of the lenses and tighten it then pull the tie anti clockwise gently. Came off first time very easily for me.

Sent from my iPad using PhantomPilots mobile app

Use the motor clamp tool what comes with bird it fits round lens and grips perfectly comes off easy then, not sure they always supplied them

I tried this and the plastic tool simply snapped. I wouldn't call it a perfect fit.

I had same issue trying to remove stock sense to fit a DJI ND filter. The cable tie method worked well. As mentioned, the smallest amount of pressure on the thread will bind it up. It needs gentle even pressure around the entire circumference of the lens to unscrew.

Best method I have found is to use a rubber band around the lens. Be sure you are putting pressure on the front edge of the lens not over the body of it. UAV bits makes a lens wrench if you are still having trouble.

Vietnam is a republic country so they are very strict. The views are excellent but you must careful with the polices. They don't talk law lol. So better treat them with respect and nicely when you pump into them. However, you can apply the form to request flight authorization.

Here's the form:
