Is it possible to get the Mavic to return to the controller rather than the recorded home point?

The Mavic will always return to the last recorded home point. If you want your Mavic to return to the remote controller, then you'll need to reset the home point to the remote controller right before initiating RTH.
There's no setting in DJI GO to automatically reset the home point to the remote controller's location as you move (commonly known as a "dynamic home point"). Litchi is able to do that though if you don't mind running a 3rd party app.
