Lens replacement on Vision+

Yes, that looks like the same thing only without the holder that the gopro needs (and we don't).
Makes the Ragecam upgrade look a tad expensive !

Really looking forward to seeing wharfbanger's examples :)

This could turn out to be what so many of us have been dreaming about (gimballed high quality aerial photography) - I do hope so.

Sorry, should have clarified this is not my video. I did leave a comment on Youtube asking about quality.

Yes, we need to see the comparisons of the pre-modified PV+ and the post-modified PV+. I would want to see both video and stills. Wharfbanger, let us know if you get some examples. Please post or link to the answers.

This looks like an easy mod, and good for photogrammetry:

This looks like a very cool upgrade to eliminate the fisheye effect of the stock lens. I'd be interested to see some video footage in all three FOV formats, as well as how much difficulty you had achieving focus. Thank you for the information on the lens.

he isn't the guy doing the lens replacement.

I'm interested in this mod but I would bet if you wait two months someone will release a kit to do the whole thing without breaking out a dremel

I hear ya..personally its not the dremeling that worries me, its getting a lesser quality lens than the stock pv2+ lens. if its lesser quality then its not worth paying for the lens just to get rid of the fish eye.

Update number 4 has now been posted by Milton Amaya, the guy who's attempting the modification. I think it's amazing what he's doing but the mod has already increased in cost because it has turned out that the GoPro lens holder IS needed. The process is significantly more complicated than Milton had hoped at first and in my opinion is no longer what could be called "easy". Plus, he's not done yet.

4th update. Getting messy IMHO http://youtu.be/akcSjE3yIMU

Looks like upgrades will be possible but personally I think I'll wait until someone comes up with a commercial all in one solution rather than hacking away through trial and error.

+1. I have no fear of doing the mod, I just want to know that I have all the parts to put it back together properly in front of me.
