Landing pad ideas

I must say the pads are fancy. I like portability and simplicity. I use a exterior door mat like the one outside your front door. It rolls up into small foot print. I have considered painting it up to be more decorative.

I use one of these. Simple, inexpensive, and padded. Light enough for easy transport, but heavy enough that prop wash doesn't blow it away.

Shop Grey Anti-Fatigue Mat (Common: 4-ft x 4-ft; Actual: 49.21-in x 49.21-in) at Lowes.com

I use just one of the panels, but my wife is using all four until she gets a better handle on the controls. The padding also helps absorb shock if she happens to come down a little hard.

I use the same pads as you mentioned. Even tried to apply some graphics to mimic a helipad more. Work ok, but the graphics don't really stick too well to the rubber mat. May try to paint them on.....some rainy no-fly day. [emoji848]

I just use a 60" square piece of mid-weight canvas and masked it off in the middle with a large "H" (Helipad) and sprayed that with white fabric paint out of an art supply store. Toss large 6" metal washers on it if needed for wind - and if it is blowing up that much, I probably shouldn't be flying there anyway. Rolls or folds up small up and stores in the car. Shakes out fine (I sprayed it with ScotchGuard) and is washable too.

Honestly, the grass I fly off of I never use anything as it is moist. Desert dirt or dust may call for it.

The grass can be wet.The sand at the beach blows everywhere.Thats why I most always use something.I have several different pads.Heres one with lights and reflective coatings.

For wet, muddy and sandy conditions I will use a 3 foot by 2 foot rubber matt to stop the crap from blowing up into the motors

I have almost finished my pad. Here are a few more pictures. I got the led strips on eBay for $12. Got the 2 - 9 volt connectors at Radio Shack. Pack of 5 for $3. Used high gloss white paint so it really put out a lot of light. Flew last night and really looked cool coming in. I bought a pack of red taillight lens repair tape so I can have some of the holes glow red. I may have gone a little crazy with the leds but I like it. It does not mess with the compass at all. Was a little concerned but it does not effect the P3P at all.

NOW THATS COOL!!!! Well done! Try and get an aerial shot of it from the drone at a dusk landing!

Now that's different, looks pretty cool to say the least. Did you manually land it or on gps. Would the vps work correctly from the landing pad lights in atti mode?

I manually landed with GPS and VPs on. First time not using an old piece of plywood. It did not dance around as much just before landing with the holes.

Wouldn't the holes contradict what you are trying to do with the landing pad? Keep dirt from flying up on your quad? Just curious.
