Here is why Here maps...

I know there was a lot of talk about Here Maps. Here is why Here is here to stay.

Sky’s The Limit For DJI And HERE’s Global Drone Mapping Partnership
An interesting link NRJ - and as some have stated here, it's probably solely down to how much it costs.

Don't quote me in the future (or maybe you can :)) but with quite a lot of negativity that I have read here and elsewhere, there may be a 'fall-out' before too long... ermmm..... sooner or later...

DJI will, I am sure, be weighing up the negativity against the savings constantly and, I am also sure, will either bail out - or not.....

So that's a pretty concise summary from me.... :)

I agree with you about DJI keeping it possibly based on number of problems with Here maps and the dislike of it. I had to go back to DJI GO app 2.9.1 to get Google maps. There was nothing I could do to make Here maps work, not even a little. It appears that there are a lot of companies talking it up about Here maps and I just don't see it. Maybe there is a ton of money behind this product. But, as the free market system will determine... Here maps will disappear of it doesn't work. People simply won't use it.

Yes, I read about the problems you had. For me, the main point was I could see that Here maps weren't as up to date as Google were. Maybe not a show-stopper but why go with last year's model...? I went back to 2.9.1 as well.

But let's look back to the battle for video format at the beginning of the 80's. It is rumoured that VHS only beat Betamax to the finishing tape because that was the format that the world's porn industry chose to embrace.

So I look forward to seeing some click-and-pop-up cyber porn images on Here maps very soon!! :)

Well, I guess that may be the money behind it then. Hah! Yes, aerial porn video's. Imagine the angles. Lol.

To my understanding Here Maps is a Micro$oft map. Need more to be said...?

Sent from my iPad using PhantomPilots
No, sorry - but I don't believe that's correct, although I didn't actually have a clue before I checked it out. Here (company) - Wikipedia Micro$oft is just one of the many companies which use Here maps.

I also have to confess that along with many others, I just thought it was called 'Here maps' because that's what you saw at your centre-point... But no!... It's actually a recognised and registered brand...

So I for one have learnt something new today.... Maybe tomorrow will be equally rewarding.... :)

This why I started using Lichi app. Plus its got alot more tech built into the app than DJI Go, But anyway I have
had ZERO problems with Lichi and Google maps. They load fast and are up to date. Here maps on Dji Go on
the other hand are slow and disappointing at least for me anyway. I have posted on this subject before and wont
beat a dead horse to death , but Im disappointed to read this about DJI and Here maps , because it looks Here
maps are not going away anytime soon. Thanks for posting the info NRJ, very insightful.
Have a great day!
