Beta Testers requested to fix Compass Issue

LilPhantom,

It has been well documented that the issue affects ALL P2's in high dec areas and none in very low dec areas. It has nothing to do with a defective compass.

I just want to be crystal clear: all I have ever wanted was for some feedback from DJI. Anything. I understand that fixing software takes time. And that it has to be updated, tested, tweaked and tweaked again. I would just like DJI to be involved with their client base. Talk to us. Let us know if and what you're doing to help us get our very expensive machines fixed.

That's all. :)
Realize you are frustrated, but Asian business practice is different from what you are used too. From my experience it is blunt, no thrills & direct ( also very slow & considered. Rather get it right than rush in & make mistakes). Customer feedback is not part of their business culture.

That is crystal clear. some of us can read. and Pazz, I'm sorry. That is an excuse. I am familiar with Chinese business practice, and you are right about how they operate (don't lump Asian all together. They don't all do business like China). Last time I looked a huge chunk of their profits are coming from the USA. Do business i China... well ok conform to their ways. Do business in USA... it's Capitalism and consumerism. They know that. So much that DJI put a customer service/service center/help line and hired people who don't even know what a drone is. I emailed into the USA branch regarding this BETA TEST PROGRAM and they had no idea and wanted pictures etc of the problem.

And Ianwood... My comments are all reactionary...meaning I do not start them. Please read through the thread. Some of it you start yourself.

I am going to say it AGAIN and for the last time before I ask the mods to enforce it. This thread is for beta testing discussion only. If you want to debate Chinese culture, what you think you know about engineering, the 25 different ways you hate DJI or other completely useless time-wasting topics, please do so in another thread.

I am speaking about the beta test program

I think there's a beta tester here that travels. I am interested to know how a change in Declination and location has to the Phantom "learning" and adjusting.

If this thread is to continue everyone needs to refrain from personal attacks on each other.
Stick to the topic issues otherwise we'll put this to bed.
We are all in this together, there is no reason to fight about it.

Exactly. I totally agree!

Might be more to 3.05 then we know, hence the delay. DJI has also said to include telemetry logger in next firmware so it might take some time.
Have 2 models and they booth fly like s--t for the first 5-10 minutes and waypoints is useless for me so yes, I want it as bad as everyone else but I do understand things take time to get right.
My 2 cent's worth.

Telemetry logger?

Yes, DJI called it something else but it is flight logging. Widely reported when firmware came out last time, and a database (in Chinese) was found and later disappeared. I am just speculating that this might also be included in 3.05.

When i first bought my Phantom vision several months ago i remember seeing a map showing everywhere my Phantom has flown including China where they must have tested it. Can't find that feature anymore. i thought it was kind of creepy, next thing they will do is log all your video and match it to your location

I've sent another email to DJI to see if they can at least give us an estimate for the final release. They didn't reply to the last one but they reply about 50% of the time, so we'll see.

If you'd be willing to provide the addy, I'll send a couple messages as well. :) I'll even be polite... I *AM* Canadian after all. :)

Why is it so crucial to have a strict topic lockdown on this thread when (A) The beta testing has gone as far as it can go at this point, and that discussion has concluded, and (B) DJI clearly doesn't even bother to visit this thread? And if they do visit here and neglect posting ANY sort of an update, EVER, pardon my French but screw them and this thread.

I emailed DJI through their generic support email address and told them I have the magnetic declination issue and asked if they would give me the beta firmware. They responded:

"Dear Landon,

Thank you for contacting DJI Technology.

We hope to have this update out within the next few days and would recommend checking for updates after this weekend. We appreciate your patience.

We hope you have found this information helpful.

Thank you for flying with DJI Technology.

Jason
DJI Technology Customer Service"

So it looks like Jason of the rank and file support team cares more than any of the upper level jerks, like Terry or whomever Ian has been in touch with, to take the time to respond.

Regardless of the fact that they acknowledged the problem and have attempted to fix it; and whether or not the 6 months it has taken them to implement a seemingly simple fix is a "normal" timeframe or not; DJI has blown it with the easiest aspect to all of this: communication. It pisses me off and I am going to post about it here whether it is considered on topic or not.

I will say this. If the new firmware is not released by early next week I will be taking this matter into my own hands.

It's a hobby product, get over yourself. I've heard a few days as well on some kind of new release and think there is more than the compass fix on their plate. I'm the last to disagree on the need for better communication, DJI has at least one engineer, Dr Turbo
who is active in the propulsion threads. Hopefully they will do more in this vein.

I have 3 grand worth of receipts and and bookings on hold that says that this is more than a hobby. I invested in this system as a means to help earn a living, it's another bit of gear in my kit that I use to do my job.

I suppose the carpenter who spends 10 grand on a bunch of woodworking tools that don't work should just get over himself rather than complaining to DeWalt in hopes of a fix, because being able to build a birdhouse with it makes it a hobby?

May all your children be born naked. *HEX*HEX*

Ummm... it is barely a "hobby" product. The phantom is more of a "consumer product"... but no need to take an aggressive tone.

The Phantom is in fact a hobby machine. If you are going to make a professional living at it I suggest you move up to a professional machine that will do what you need with ease. These days you can get birds with great payload capacity and 40 minutes of flight time. In other words, don't enter the Indy 500 in an escort, use an Indy car for better results.
