Updating firmware on the phantom V1.1.1

Updating firmware on the phantom V1.1.1 is it just the phantom that needs to be updated or do you have to open up the tx too & update that as we'll ???
So my main question is does both need updating when needed transmitter & the phantom or just the phantom only

I believe that when you are in the software, it will tell you what firmware you are runing and if there is a newer revision of the firmware.
