Tiny avatar size limit?

Hey - new here, just wondering why the avatar size limit is so small?

It's 90x90pix which I can deal with but 6kb is TINY! I literally cannot get a photo @ 90x90 down to 6kb.

Certain programs can do it. If you use Photoshop, you can't just save a jpg or gif, you have to use the "Save for Web" tool.

resized mine using MS Paint haha. but yea 6k is a bit small

MS Paint. Hummmm. Guess I will give that a try also. So far have not been able to get anything small enough.

1525 EDT update: Yes that IS just way too small. Got it down to 94 but not small enough yet. Too small required, nuts.
