Hi , im new to the forum so if i am asking a dumb question im sorry. I have been debating on buying a phantom 2 vision for the last few weeks i have been saving for awhile. i am a professional firefighter in a small dept and extra money isnt easy to come by. So my question is , has anyone came across someone on the forum who had bought one and got bored with it quickly, I have been playing with a small quad copter and im really enjoying it (little cheap one with a camera) but when i look at the p2v it seems incredible and i have read everything i can find on it and looked at hours of video. I think i would enjoy it even more then this little syma x5c i have bought to learn a little on. Since this is a rather unusual thing for me to spend money on i am just looking for a little reassurance before i buy. From what i have read it seems dfi has discontinued the pv2 and i need to make up my mind soon because i imagine once all the stock stores have is gone ill have a really hard time finding one. Thanks in advance for any input. i finally have the money saved and ready to pull the trigger.
DJI isn't going anywhere...its a booming industry, they'll be making other Phantom iterations for the foreseeable future I would think. The Phantom Vision is no longer in production, they're clearing stocks, but many parts are interchangeable with the plus.
I bought mine with Real Estate work in mind. But it looks as though that's not happening anytime soon with the latest FAA rulings on these Hobbyist (light weight) craft. You will enjoy flying and filming...especially if you live near interesting subject material...IE: waterfalls, canyons, mountains etc. They are a blast to fly, but it does take some preparation, reading the manual thru atleast once, and understanding how the controls work and especially how the automatic features work. Like waypoint navigation, RTH, Courselock and Homelock etc.
I Also started with a nano quad...flew in the house and learned the controls...it will help tremendously with your flying confidence. The Phantoms can fly in 10 mph winds....They CAN,...obviously, its much more fun and less stressful at 3 or even 0 Winds. I try not to go out of visual range (1000 feet or so) down range and never very high...especially if windy.
All I can say...if you enjoy flying the little ones...these Phantoms are more fun that those. and more expensive when it goes wrong.... So far, so good, for me. I've owned mine just about a year and I fly once or twice a month in winter...every few days in summer. No crashes so far.
Theres lots of people and lots of videos to learn with here on the forum. So your not having to figure it out alone.
What ever you decide, Good luck and happy hovering.
