Show off your CUSTOM, MODIFIED, TRICKED OUT Phantoms

I have never done it to anything other than nylon based plastics.

I'm curious too as the possibility of warping the shell from the hot water concerns me.

Went ahead and dyed my original shell black (ordered and painted a spare shell in use now),also dyed tx casing and some props. Came out pretty good after 2 doses of dip. At first all I could get was some dark blue dye so that was the first run. it worked but was somewhat blotchy and not evenly spread (might not have had the water hot enough and it cooled fast as well). Finally was able to get some black and ran a 2nd run with the black and it came out looking even and nearly blemish free(better dish held the heat longer)....some areas appear slightly dull and may be areas of contact to some object or another. The paint covers those little areas but the dye adds not weight to the part. Soon I will dye camera assembly and antishock mount and my main tx body (V3).
Boiled water to a violent boil, poured in dip container, added packets mixed up and placed the pieces in. No warping or softness took place, so to answer the question of the temp and the plastic it seems just fine.
When I do my next batch I'll consider getting a spare dish I can leave on the stove at a low simmer to really get good penetration since the heat does not appear to be a factor.

And The Not A Phantom; my Blade 350 QX always reminded me of a frog in mid leap, so I painted him to look like a tree frog:

Well, here's my new look! Did a test flight yesterday and it flew great. Oreo seems to approve of the new look as well.

Well, it took me a while but I finally got the courage (and idea) together to do it! I've been watching "Black Sails" lately so I had to go with a pirate theme.

Hand-painted using enamel model paints, sealed with UV-resistant automotive clear coat. Only took me about 3 days to paint. If you like it, let me know! I'm selling this shell on ebay because I already have my idea for the next one

If you have an idea for your copter but not the time/know-how to do it, tell me your idea. I'll let you know if it is something I can pull off or not. I had fun with this one!

Either hydrodipped, or vinyl wrapped upper and lower body and leg (one leg still to arrive).
Dyed 9450 propellers, clip on guards bought from MonsieurAnon "Mortar Art" on here.

It looks like a pin stripe suit to me.
