programmed flight. Do I have to actually fly to the spots I want to go to enter waypoints, or can I drive to the spots and enter the waypoint?

I guess as long as your Phantom is powered on and receiving a GPS location you can drive to the site and mark the waypoint in the DJI Go App. Another option would be to use Litchi. It allows you to manually select waypoint locations in their app on the map, rather than having to fly to them first (or drive), and then upload the waypoint mission to the Phantom and it will fly it autonomously.

It will finish going to all the waypoints even if it is out of range of the remote controller (provided of course there is enough battery)
