Just saying hi. Friend put me onto this site after i was having trouble with my phantom 2.

UPDATE on this rat piece of crap.
When i bought this drone used last week it work on my friend's android fine. Kept getting Fatal system error, thought i'd fixed it....soo wrong. Today when i finally got the thing airborne it decide to stay hoovering at 360ft and not come. After panicking a bit i switched of the S2 switch which gave me control back.

So tonight i thought i'll check foe updates. Said there was one for the main controller. So pressed upgrade and it told me to connect controller which i did and nothing, zip nada no response. Pressed it again and said connect controller again. So thought must mean drone (and the controller must be something inside drone to communicate with remote) and it started upgrading and all went tits up. Now all its doing is beeping like a ***** and won't communicate at all. So now i think its not an expensive paperweight. All reason i didn't buy a new Phantom 3 is coz this one had spare batteries, case and camera is good enough.

Rant over.....don't buy one

UPDATE AGAIN

Managed to reflash the firmware using older software. figured it's a flying computer so treated as one

Thanks but fixed it now. Posted a link on another thread for people who were having same problem. Was getting fatal system error with the gps. But alls good now (at the moment).

cheers

Mine was getting that yesterday. (System error, fatal error messages)

I was flying in GPS out in the open area that is covered in melting snow. I thought I was going to need some tools and rice.( dry things out)

But i brought it back really quick and reformated my SD card after downloading my pics and it seemed to fix my issue.

It might have been a little cold also. I am up in the mountains at 3600' and it was only 34-36*

Cold mild wind gusts and cloud cover might have been an issue also.

2000' is a good ways for signal to go with that weather in the snow best i have made it out with no lag is 2565' with visual.

I still keep visual line of sight. But when it cuts out I hurry up and get higher to avoid the melting ground.

I'll try and upload some pics later.

Lucky being in mountains. Can't get mine to fly without gps. How do you do that.
Love to see those pics if you're allowed to put them on here

You will still need a GPS fix. The phantoms WiFi will connect to them automatically. If you read the manual it tells you what the indicator lights mean.

Solid green, flashing green, yellow, red, etc. The LED patterns tell you how many you are connected to.I don't remember all the LED patterns but here's what I do remember.

I most of the time get 6-7 satellites to connect to.(6 is all you need. More the better I got 13 at one point and got outstanding feeds.)

If you haven't done so I'd recommend reading the section about your led indicator lights.

I suppose you could fly with just the remote. Not the wifi setup on the camera and it would be like flying without GPS.

P2 Vision + V3 Been getting 11 sats where i live. Thinks its all sorted now. Gonna test it tomorrow.

Got it.

I started with a small area of 100*500(altitude*distance limit)

if you are still getting used to the controls I would recommend starting with those. I have a wide open field with trees for obstacles. I clipped them and crashed multiple times when getting used to the controls.

If you need any guidance ID be happy to help.

Thank you didn't know you can log the flight data. Just been using open areas at the min and my fiend who I bought it had set the rth ali to 120ft so it doesn't hit anything on way back.
Hoping to use it for night pic and video once I've got use to it
Cheers

Oh I see, sorry misunderstood. Just realised the last post I put sounds like I'm a peeping Tom lol

For example Default settings for the phantom would have lifted my phantom to space.

Defaulted the phantoms basic gain was way too much for the mountains.

Less air mass - less of a basic gain needed to move.

I will go get a example of my changes quick.

I don't really know what that is or means at the min [emoji848]
