Phantom 3 Standard Range

Yes, I been watching signal and distance problems since August on the P3S.

I think I've already laid to rest that the PIII standard can be just as capable as it's big brothers! If you do the right kind of modifications and fly in the right flight path it's actually able to go further than the
P3P/A because of it's light weight

Yes, if is working correctly.

Mine is working correctly,
I have had two different birds on two different firmware updates that said they were successful. I had to send them both to DJI because remote control signal was not usable.:)
They worked like the should as good or better than my P2V+

Here is one of my smaller list, just on firmware problems on remote signal problems on P3S

Standard - Short range P3S

I have a smaller list just on firmware causing video signal problems

Yeah that's true Rod! That's why encourage anybody to fly the bird the way they got it and only update if they're having a serious problem.

Yep, update at your own risks.

Seems to be quite a bit of variation of Phantom 3 Standard (Stock) ranges. I just did 5433 Feet (1653 Meters) with my stock antenna. Had line of sight for the entire flight.

Phantom 3 Standard (Stock) - Distance Test

Bought a cheap Windsurfer on EBay and gave it a test run with my stock antenna. Made it out to 10,881 Feet (3,317 Meters) before RTH function kicked in. Had a bit of a scare though. Once I lost signal I assumed that I'd regain signal once the drone came back into range. This has happened in the past. Waited for minutes without any signal. I forced the RTH function after approx 5 minutes just in case the drone was hung or getting partial signal. I didn't get a signal until the drone was within visual range. Baring an unusual event, e.g. bird strike, loss of propeller, flying into a tall building, that RTH function is pretty sweet.

I uploaded my flight log to Healthy Drone and it appears I was having poor data connections starting from 5100 Feet on. Data connection was dropping anywhere from 1 second to 5.8 seconds along the way. Surprised I got as far as I did.

Standards have a decent range and are well worth the money for the nice package you get. If you need to go further FPVLR and DBS make antenna kits. There are many threads found here about both... DBS seems to be the most popular. My Standard is stock and I have gone out to 4000' so far. Another member here went 6666' stock then others claim only 1000'. I suppose on where you are flying and your flight experience.
Also, P3S SDK is out so third party apps are in beta now.

I can go 6500 ft with my standard and I really don't see the point in that cause I can't even see it so I'm content with what I have
