P2V+ i cant get the camera tilt knob modification to work

i cant get this camera tilt mod to work. im using a 5K linear pot. ive seen other vids using 10K pots. is this important?

ive tried many different wiring setups, the attached pics show my current setup.

my symptoms are either: 1) the camera goes full down as soon as i move the knob and now the camera wont budge, plus the phone app tilt no longer works, or 2) the knob doesnt work at all

included are pics of my latest wiring setup. ive watched dozens of YT how to videos, most agree with this wiring setup here but others differ. about the wiring: it is my understanding that the red power wire has to be in the middle position of both the knob potentiometer, and the RC circuit board pot. the other wires simply deal with which direction the camera moves if you turn the knob left or right.

in my pics attached, red is power black is ground, the yellow wire is signal wire.

please help if you can, the P2V+ has been around for 4 years and this mod was rather common mod. thanks.

Make sure all your firmware is up to date, and make sure on the DJI RC System Assistant_1.2 that you have it on the new controller. Lastly calibrate the controller. Good luck
