I can barely get 2800' feet before losing signal. Why?

Windsurfers have helped me, significantly. I went 32k feet out and back with just windsurfers.

I will try auto mode tomorrow when I fly again. I'd like to get in the 4K to 5K range. That would make me happy. After all, I'm not looking to set any distance records like some people on this forum.

Are you losing RC signal or video signal? Auto/custom has nothing to do with the RC signal.It is for the video downlink.

Are you flying in Europe, afaik DJI automatically limits transmission power in Europe to accommodate local laws?

Just losing video downlink.

On a side note. I just tried again and this time I left the setting to "auto" instead of "custom". I went farther than yesterday but I didn't push it because it's hot as hell here in central FL and my iPhone started to get a whee bit too hot so I came back once I hit 3000' which is farther than yesterday.
