After putting it off, I finally decided to drill the hole in my P3S controller to mount an Inspire style tablet mount.

Marked the drill location as described in the many you tube videos I watched and boom !

The hole was in the perfect spot, dead plumb too.

Holding my ipad mini 4, in an Otterbox case no sweat.

Very happy tonight !

Nice work! This is truly the best mounting option for the P3S.

FYI, if anyone else wants to do this, I have detailed instructions here.

Thanks Phantomhelp,

Yes, now all I need is a 'genuine' DJI holder.

The one I have works, but it doesn't quite open as far as the DJI one.

Also, the cheap copy I have just rockets out when you press the open button.

Not that nice 'smooth glide' that the original part has!

You can get one on eBay here.

I bought a holder that does not require a hole to be drilled. It is the same as the original but without the pin on the top. Works quite well.

Sent from my iPhone using PhantomPilots

Hi Dazzauk,

I thought the same. Just about every ipad I looked at was WiFi only.

So I splurged and got one on a cheap, 2 year plan with our major Telco.

Only 1GB of data, but I only use it for the Phantom.

Costs me $10 per week for the latest ipad mini 4, plus 1GB of data. The option of upgrading to a newer model too should I choose.

For around an extra fee of $150 I should add. But that works for me.

Not sure what options you have in the UK, but cellular is a must I reckon.

Hi Dazza,

I have no idea, I am new to all this. Haven't flown it yet.

But I reckon the larger screen and the gps/maps must be worth it !

You can cache the maps before you head out to fly or tether your phone to your iPad to share the Internet connection.

Ah I never thought about creating and connecting to the iphone as a hotspot :)

I might have to try this, however my ipad mini runs so slow, hopefully it will run the ap ok, now I need to find a mount with a screw hole in the bottom..
