Can you fly a phantom 4 with a phantom 3 pro remote controller ?

Sorry for posting to this but need help , I must be doing something wrong . I have now tried to connect my P4 to a couple different P3P GL300C remotes without getting it right. Video is garbled , remote blinks red/green very fast . P4 will take off , but its very shaky . And as starting up the app displays Phantom 3 , but I thought the version of the app I have (android) is for P4 and later , so why would the P3 show up.

UPDATE:
After struggling with this for hours , I finally had a breakthrough .I used my brothers P3P to update the controller and then I was able to actually connect to the P4 without trouble. I think I also needed both DJI apps on my tablet as well , both before and after P4 apps.
