So is the fact the the p2v+ camera is a 14mp camera compaired to the 12mp camera on the p3, would it be better for mapping?

I don't know anything about the lens on a 2, but there is hardly any difference in a 12 and a 14 Mpix lens in the real world. So it would be more a matter of whether the 2 has a better lens or a larger lens. With a larger (faster) lens you will have a faster shutter for the same light. Given this thing is flying, shutter speed is important.
