Black Pearl FPV setup

Why does the black pearl screen go black when I put my GoPro Hero 3+ camera on burst photos? Does FPV not work when the GoPro is in another mode other than video?

When the GoPro is taking a still image, it stops video out temporarily. On timelapse, anything longer than 5 second intervals will give you video, with intermittent black period (where the camera cuts the feed). Anything quicker than that and it won't output video at all. Same goes for burst.
