    Just read this online:

Nervous pilot? You might be able to command your UAV with a little more peace of mind now that AIG is willing to sell you drone insurance.

The insurance company has launched a series of policies that will cover you for all kind of accidents. Perhaps most importantly, it’ll provide third party liability in case you crash your drone into someone or something else. But it’ll also cover physical damage to the aircraft itself, including cameras and other hardware that you’re having it carry, and there aren’t any exclusions if something goes wrong with the on-board electronics.

The costs depend on what kind of cover you’re going for: it’s going to be more expensive to cover your custom-made drone carrying a RED camera than it is you DJI Phantom with a GoPro lashed to its undercarriage. Either way, it’s unlikely most people will choose to cover themselves for the drone they use in the backyard, but for anything more serious it might be a tempting option. Flying a drone, after all, isn’t always easy.

AIG will insure anything, and usually at high price in their favor. As they say, it's risk management.

That's just for the drone, right? Does that quote include any liability coverage?

The OP's quote says "third party liability in case you crash your drone into someone or something else."

    Looks interesting...

AIG does not offer the insurance. I was quickly shoved off to a company called Newtek.

UPDATE: I called Newtek, at the number AIG gave me, 866-639-1835. They took my info and promised a callback. But the nice lady that answered the phone was aware that they offered UAV insurance. (And she asked me if it was going to use it for business or personal, but I know that the blue lizard on the Newtek TV commercials works for the government, so I glossed over that one....)

I have 3rd party cover in the UK from Join FPV UK - FPV UK
£16/yr. I keep the certificate in my flight case, just in case a member of the public asks me.
On the subject of members of the public, here in the UK all my encounters are extremely positive, never had a complaint, everyone is just curious and wants to talk positively. I always fly in very safe areas, which become slightly unsafe, when someone approaches me and strikes up a conversation and sometimes distracts, but on balance I prefer to talk to people, and hover a bit,all good for the sport.
I do not bother with insuring the bird, not worth the premiums.

You are right on how you've explained how to fly. Too many are out acting like Wankers which will and does cause us problems. Thank you for your safe flying.
