If using Naza, you could periodically reset the home point by flipping S2 back and forth from top to center like 5 times.
Read up on the Naza functions to confim ...but I believe that's one way to keep the home point at least closer to you as you motor about.

    Valid,
RTH is not final however, once you are back in range, you can take over control at any time. So if it goes into RTH, just point the boat at your phantom to get closer to it and try to take over.

With my P2V non plus, I never got into a situation where return to home was accidental. Every time I used it, I triggered it on purpose.... usually because I lost video and was too far out to to tell what direction I was pointed.

Just bring it back manually and unless you are talking about a very large boat It's probably best to hover and get someone to catch the skids rather than try to land on the boat.
