What gives the phantom Advance so much more range than the standard? The remote vs the drone or both?

If its 100% has to do with a more powerful advance remote, does that mean if you use that advance remote on a phantom 3 standard drive, you can also get the 3.1 mile range?

The P3A transmits data via Lightbridge and the P3S transmits data via Wi-Fi. Since the transmission methods are different, you won't be able to interchange the remote controllers.

Both.... Advanced uses a communication system DJI have named "lightbridge" as opposed to wifi on the standard. Almost certainly an implementation of the "wifibroadcast" protocol (part of the wifi standards).

Controllers aren't interchangeable.
