time to get a dedicated tablet?

Been flying with my iPhone 6 as my screen since I got my P4 in June of last year. Things mostly good until recently.

In December I was flying out in Pennsylvania when it was cold (25 degrees F) and 10 minutes into the flight my phone (which had 90% battery charge to start) just....died. Thank goodness the fly to home button worked as intended.

Yesterday, flying and the last few minutes of the flight the phone starts getting choppy, coupe seconds with no video feed updates, and green blotches on large parts of the screen as I fly.

I think the phone is aging... it's' 3.5 years old and may be the cause of this. I've been thinking of getting an Nvidia K1 8" tablet as a dedicated drone screen. Thoughts?

I use the IPad mini 2 with wifi and 3g. It is not a dedicated tablet, but I force close everything else before I start the Go 4 app and I have never had any problems. Nothing fancy and it they can be had for under 200 used
