This is the problem I have

Before take off, I do all the pre-flight checks, firmware up to date, compass normal, IMU normal, GOOD connection with RC, home point updated, GPS in green, satellites good.

I do a auto take off, and there it sits, no reaction from my P4 with stick input, and then forced to press RTH, the only way to land, until I reboot the P4 and RC a few times, then only it works

Manual take off also does not work at that time

Alway with safety in mind

I lock my dogs away but the odd times one will jump the separation fence and if I could not go a bit higher for them not to attack the P4, that can run into a serious injury


As I said I have a good RC connection, once the sticks respond after a few restarts the problem does not exist and I can fly happily

Any idea why this happens?

I would say to rebind your rc and see what happens. I have a p3p and a p3a so really don't know much about the p4 yet. However try that and see what happens.
