That would also be illegal, at least in the US unless you are a licensed amateur radio operator (ham). FCC says you cannot tinker with anything, including the antennas, in a Part 15 certified device. Hams are allowed because they have band privileges and can operate uncertified equipment as long as they do not exceed the allowed power limits.
