I do truley think that dji makes their own battery's.. Which is in part why the prices of their battery's have dropped so much since all these aftermarket battery's started coming out.. They were loosing a lot of battery sales so they lowerd the price to be more competitive..
That being said I own one non dji battery from eBay.. Forget who I got it from.. It was brand new in a brown -non dji box.. My mom got it as a gift for me for Xmas (she didn't know there was a difference) me instead of being a **** and telling her to return it.. Dispite what Iv read on the net, and my better judgement I kept it and used it..
I have used it a total of 10 times or so, charged prolly 15 times, I have noticed no change in behavior from my p3a when flying with it.. I get the EXACT same flight times with it as well.. But never like to go super far with it just because there's always that chance Something could go wrong. I never got a "warning, not a dji official battery" message.. And it charges and reacts the same as my originals do in every condition, warm or cold..
One thing I don't like tho, is whenever the battery is used down to 1 bar left, and I shut my motors down after a flight, the quad makes a clicking noise.. It's either the quad or the battery.. Don't know which is making the clicking noise but it's loud.. But soon as I recharge it and put it back in my quad it will stop, and won't click again until it's at 1bar again for batt%.. It's very strange but I just put up with it.. Again I try not to fly really far away with it.
The battery I have looks identical to the stock ones, only the battery wrap is a lighter grey color, the battery green leds are dimmer and slightly off color, and on the battery all the info is the same, except instead of saying "dji intelligent flight battery" it says "compatible with phantom 3"
My mom said the battery was roughly 65$ give or take... My opinion.. I would not buy another one.. Dji original battery's have dropped so much in price I think you would be crazy not to just get an original one. It's not even just the fact that dji is better.. It's the PEACE OF MIND you have when you fly with an original dji battery.. Nobody wants to have to worry when they fly, and when you have an aftermarket battery it can cause you to worry, which is why I never go super far.. I have Grown more and more confident lately of the aftermarket battery, more with each use.. It hasn't failed me yet "knock on wood"
One thing not a lot of ppl will be able to tell you quite yet is how long they will last or how many cycles they can do before being junk.. I have a feeling that the 2 other original dji battery's will far outlast the aftermarket but that's just my Guess. Time will tell.. Who knows maybe the aftermarket will outlast dji.. You never know.
One HUGE reason some ppl say aftermarket batts don't work is cuz of this.. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.. It all will depend on which firmware you have installed on your phantom, and which firmware is installed on the aftermarket battery.. This is the BIGGEST factor with whether the matter will work or not.. I got lucky, but will the next person? Again this is why I feel it's always best just to buy original dji batts.. The peace of mind that it's gonna 100% work for only 20-30$ more. Way worth it imo..
Dji doesn't want ppl buying aftermarket battery's and using them, so to stop them, they Incript a certain code in the firmware for the quad.. And their battery's, and when you get an older aftermarket battery that does not have thay same incription then the dji go app will see there is a difference and will lock you out from flying with it.. So then these company's catch on and find the new incription.. Upload it to their aftermarket battery's.. And then the battery's will work again in the phantom...this will go on and on and on... Back and forth.. Dji trying to lock them out.. And aftermarket company's figuring out the incription to update their batts so they work..
This is why there is so
Much talk about aftermarket battery's not working.. Then working, then not working, then working.. It's the cycle lol.
Hope this helps you
