Props off in your check in baggage

Anyone have any experience packing your bird in your suitcase? I was thinking that if you took the props off and wrapped and packed the camera and landing gear area with sox and small clothing it would be safe. I have a big case but that's just another thing to carry/check. I realize you have to carry-on the batteries. Thanks

I have worked behind the scenes at an airport and know how baggage gets treated. It's not gentle by any stretch of the imagination. Get a hand case with foam inside. I cant stress this enough. I've seen baggage handlers football kick packages into the hold.
