This applies to Vision and Vision+ owners too: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16598

For those not familiar with the Compass Declination Defect

    If you live in:

    • Western US and Canada
    • Northeastern US and Canada
    • Eastern OZ and all of NZ
    • Northeastern South America
    • Southern Africa

    This applies to you:

    • Affects all P2x in areas of high magnetic declination (+/-8 or higher).
    • Curved flight and hooking is worst when first flying. It improves during flight but may take several minutes.
    • Once power is removed, the P2 forgets any adaptions it made during the previous flight.
    • It appears to not affect the P1.
    • Areas with very high declination will experience TBE during initial hover.
    • Several people have returned their P2x thinking it was defective only to get a new one with the same problem.
    • This is a firmware defect. Possibly a signing bug in the code.
    • This defect is still present in versions 2.0 and 3.0 of the firmware.
    • Measuring the angle between initial true heading and initial course lock heading will give you the real margin of error.
    • Rotating the compass is not a recommended workaround.
    • Using a very rough bottom up model, it is expected that at least 1 in 4 P2x users experience this problem.
    • "Beta testers" have submitted data to DJI for analysis. We are waiting on DJI to provide us with an update.

See this post for more detail on the issue: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=10317

Follow the link at the top of this post for what we're trying to do about it.

Maybe you should look again because it does apply to you. Your local magnetic declination is 16 degrees. Well above the threshold to encounter this problem. I am mounting this campaign to make your Phantom fly better.

And in case someone doesn't want to waste the 0.25 seconds it takes to click the link, this has to do with a defect in all Phantom 2 models where the compass is incorrectly adjusted for the local magnetic declination such that it does not fly straight when you first take off. It hooks and curves. And in extreme cases will get spontaneous TBE.

Thank you Phil for your positive and constructive contribution. Carry on elsewhere. I don't want to waste any more of your precious time. More importantly, I am sure there are other Vision+ users who would like to see this issue fixed.

Boy, you really are a negative person. I guess it's not personal, you are just a depressing and negative person.
