Phantom 4 Pro Stops Mid-Air, Gimbal Guard

I have been having issues with my Phantom 4 Pro since I bought it. It would stop in mid flight, it would descend at quarter speed. All sorts of odd behavior that appeared sensor related.

I thought you would be interested in knowing that all of the issues stopped when I removed the (add on after market) gimbal guard. It is a carbon fiber guard. The guard sat below the gimbal and did not appear to be in the way of the sensors. It worked fine on my previous P4 (non Pro) and did not cause any issues.

My P4 had similar issues with a gimbal guard, it would yoyo up and down 60' during a hover with no stick input.

My P3P never had an issue with a gimbal guard.

Due to this incompatibility with my P4 I haven't even considered using one on my P4P .

Be careful. Dji will not warranty your quad if it has a failure and you have a gimbal protector on it. It completely blocks radar and vision sensors. That's why it yo yo's up and down and why it drifts.
