Phantom 3 gimbal slipping problem Please help

I'm trying to repair a buddies Phantom but the gimbal keeps having this problem as seen in video. I have rotated the shaft on the gimbal which led to the end of "gimbal overload" error however this problem remains. I believe it was crashed by a previous owner and no attempt at repair had been made.

Mine does this now too. Last night, literally out of the blue. It remains a mystery as to why.
